Calexico, Calif. – Dressed in lime green t-shirts, more than 50 protesters gathered in Mexicali near the Calexico Port of Entry Thursday morning to send some strong messages to Arizona leaders. The demonstrators set fire to two piñatas, one representing Governor Jan Brewer, the other Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The lead organization who put the protest together, Angeles Sin Fronteras, says it’s frustrated with the new immigration law. Dressed in lime green t-shirts, they demanded for humane immigration reform and asked people to boycott Arizona. Though they want SB 1070 completely blocked they say yesterday's ruling is a step in the right direction. Angeles Sin Fronteras International Coordinator, Hugo Castro said, “I'd like to congratulate the judge because that proves there is still hope. We have faith on the American government to act according to the universal ideologies that the U.S. used to represent.” No one was hurt or arrested during the binational rally. It lasted two hours.
