Joey joined the KYMA news team in July of 2012. He arrived in Yuma in 2007 and has been telling the Desert Southwest viewers their weather ever since. Joey comes from Louisville, KY where weather is a huge deal! He was 6 years old when he saw his first funnel cloud. It was then that he knew he was going to be a Meteorologist.

He studied Meteorology and Physics at Northland College in Ashland, WI. From severe thunderstorms to -32 degrees and 6 feet of snow, Joey has seen and studied it all. He interned in Duluth, MN his senior year. While attending Northland Joey also played baseball. His senior year Joey tossed the first ever no-hitter in school history

When Joey is not having fun on Sunrise from 6a.m.-7a.m. he’s teaching P.E. and Health at Harvest Prep Academy. His weekends consist of spending time with his wife Leah and son Landon. If he has time, playing golf, baseball, football or any other type of sport will be done. Watching the Packers on Sundays is a ritual in his household.

We all know the Desert Southwest is nice and toasty, sometimes for a little too long but Joey loves making his weather forecast as entertaining as possible for all of his viewers. Wake up and get your morning cup of “JOE”  with Joey on Sunrise from 6-7 a.m. Email Joey any time at: jnorton@kyma.com
