Raquel Estupinan joined KYMA News 11 as a reporter in October 2012. Originally from Sanger, a small city near Fresno, CA, Raquel is used to the heat and is excited to call Yuma her new home!

She studied English literature and professional writing and editing at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and received her master’s in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California--a proud Gaucho-Trojan!

In addition to broadcast news, Raquel has experience with radio and print journalism. While in school, Raquel interned at NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.

She was also a freelance reporter for FOX News Latino and The Guardian News.

Raquel produced two documentaries for USC’s award-winning news magazine show.

Raquel won an Excellence in Journalism award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a radio documentary she produced in graduate school in partnership with National Public Radio.

Besides all things news, Raquel enjoys running, hiking, traveling and hearing people’s stories (because everyone has a story to share).  She is a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

You can reach Raquel by emailing her at REstupinan@kyma.com.
