Rebecca Buchanan joined KYMA News 11 in September of 2010.

Born and raised around Yuma, she says she is happy to be home! After graduating from Antelope Union High School, Rebecca moved down south to the "bayou state" for college. At the University of Louisiana at Monroe she double majored in Mass Communications with a focus in Public Relations and Spanish. She was the Outstanding Spanish Senior in 2009 and inducted into the Spanish Honor Society.  She held many offices in her sorority Phi Mu and is most proud of her Active of the Year award in 2007.

Rebecca interned in Houston at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society marketing department before spending a year abroad in Spain. For the 2009-10 school year she lived in a small town in the South of Spain as an English assistant for an elementary school. In her free time she traveled to neighboring countries to meet new people and experience new cultures.

While in Spain, Rebecca decided to follow her dream of being in television when she returned home. She started her broadcast career as an intern reporter for The City of Yuma. Two weeks later she joined the team at KYMA. She says life couldn't be better for her, she gets to spend some much needed time at home with her family while doing her dream job.

Her favorite things about living in Yuma are going to the river, hanging out by a campfire and being able to see all the stars. She enjoys good movies, good books and good wine. She loves to run, hike, ride horses, golf, travel, and most of all spend time with friends and family.

She wants to know what local viewers want on their newscast. You can e-mail her at RBuchanan@kyma.com.
