Brawley Cattle Call Dia de la Familia

The 2012 Cattle Call Committee announces a new lineup for its annual Dia de la Familia, Sunday, November 4th at Wiest Field in Brawley.

Beginning with the traditional celebration of a bilingual Mass at 9 a.m., the annual event will have something for the whole family.

Aside from the traditional food booths, there will be a jalapeno eating contest and a kid’s corner, where children can participate in piñata breaking, crafts, cupcake walk, and other activities, including a bike giveaway. The beer garden will feature an “NFL zone” broadcasting the Sunday football game.

A special feature this year is the Dia de la Familia Horseshoe Tournament, sponsored by Chavela’s Restaurant in Brawley. Registration will take place at the event and entry fee is $20.

Musical entertainment for the Dia de la Famila will be provided by the Beatles cover band, The Baja Bugs of San Diego and the Banda Sinaloaense of Mexicali. Questions about the event can be referred to Sarah Chairez, event coordinator, at 619.654.4490.
