DESCRIPTION:Press ReleaseNovember 5\, 2012  2012 Imperial Valley Procurement Fair Connecting the Business Community with Local Contracting Opportunities The Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) in conjunction with Caltrans District 11\, the Imperial Valley Small Business Development Center\, The Business & Entrepreneurship Center (BEC) and Imperial County Transit Commission is proud to announce the 2012 Imperial Valley Procurement Fair. This much-anticipated event will bring contracting opportunities from several local\, state\, and federal agencies\, together with the Imperial Valley business community and will be held at the Barbara Worth Resort and Country Club on November 15\, 2012 between the hours of 8am to 3pm at 2050 Country Club Dr. Holtville\, CA 92250. Participants will learn from the experts about working with the government and private agencies to increase revenue and create jobs. Registration and continental breakfast will commence at 8:00am followed by opening remarks at 9:00am. At 9:30am the first of 3 workshops will begin with Imperial Irrigation District’s Contract Administrator\, Laurie Franks. Laurie will present\, “Navigating the Contracting Process” to outline how local business owners can compete for Imperial Irrigation District procurement and purchasing opportunities. Naval Air Facility El Centro along with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) will feature the second workshop\, “Doing Business with NAF” beginning at 10:15am\, presented by Contracting Officer Linda Graham to promote the Naval facility’s purchasing activities with the local business community. At 11:00am our final workshop\, “Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Certification Workshop” will be presented by Caltrans District 11DBE Program Manager\, Angela Fife. Angela will inform business owners on the importance of getting your DBE certification and will cover the process to become certified. Following the informative workshops\, from 12:00pm to 3:00pm the exhibit hall with over 40 exhibitors will be open for an exciting afternoon of networking. Exhibitors like Imperial County Sherriff’s Office\, the City of El Centro\, Imperial County Workforce Development Office\, Imperial Irrigation District\, Calipatria State Prison\, San Diego County Water Authority\, and renewable energy companies will display information on their own services and purchasing needs.
