1. Art in the Park – Saturday, March 28 – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. – Gateway Park – Yuma
The “Art in the Park” event promises up to 50 artists, displaying their work in paint, clay, metal and more. Much of it is also for sale if you’re looking to have some of the pieces in your home. There will also be live music from local performers, and a unique “duck race”.
2. “Arms and the Dudes Casting Call” – Saturday, March 28 – 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Imperial Valley Mall – El Centro
Looking for a taste of Hollywood? How about being an extra for the new film “Arms and the Dudes”? It’s starring Jonah Hill. Director Miles Teller is looking for men and women to portray military types, civilians of all types, and Middle Eastern types to work as paid background actors. Park near the JC Penny entrance at the Imperial Valley Mall. Be prepared to have I-9 documentation on you.
3. “Krazy” Kite Festival – Saturday, March 28 – 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Shaw Field (next to Joe Henry Park) – Yuma
People of all ages are invited to attend a workshop teaching how to design, build and fly kites. Then the kite-flying will begin! Awards will be presented for the biggest, littlest, funniest, and scariest kites.
