Jon Archuleta joined the KYMA news team in September of 2008, and comes from the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico.
Jon jump started his broadcast career while attending college at Eastern New Mexico University. He balanced a full-time college course load along with being a producer, reporter, and anchor for the leading PBS affiliate, KENW-TV. Jon earned hands-on training doing it all at KENW-TV from running a studio camera, editing, and being on-air.
In May 2008, he received the great honor of “Outstanding Undergraduate in Broadcast Journalism” and graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Communication with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and minor in religion.
Jon also gained on-air experience hosting and producing the “Hit-N-Mix” music show at 93.9 KRTN in his hometown of Raton. It was through this experience, along with his work at KENW-TV, Jon discovered his passion for news. He doesn’t look at doing news as a job, but as a privilege to inform people on important issues and an opportunity to build a relationship with the community.
Jon is looking forward to exploring the Desert Southwest. During his free time, he likes to watch his favorite TV shows and movies, workout, and hang out with friends and family.
Jon would like to hear any questions, comments, or story ideas you have, so don’t hesitate to give him a shout.
