Matt Boyer joined the KYMA news team in March of 2010. He's traveled a long way to get to the Desert Southwest. He comes to KYMA all the way from Michigan, where he previously worked as a reporter for High School Hammertime on Fox Sports Detroit.

Originally from Rochester, Michigan, Matt grew up a die-hard sports fan following the Detroit Pistons, Red Wings, Lions, and Tigers. His parents always enjoyed telling their friends that their son could recite the entire 1990 Detroit Pistons roster by the time he was three years old!

Having always enjoyed writing and reporting growing up, he decided to combine his two great passions and become a sports journalist. While covering his favorite professional teams has been a dream come true, Matt's favorite projects are the local stories that come from the home-grown athletes here in Yuma.

A graduate from the University of Michigan (GO BLUE!), Matt majored in both political science and communication studies. While earning his degree, he worked at Michigan Sports Television as a reporter and completed an internship at WXYZ-TV Detroit in the sports department. He also served as a play-by-play announcer and color commentator at WCBN radio for Michigan Football, Baseball, and Basketball.

When he's not out at a football game, or behind the anchor desk, Matt enjoys spending time on the golf course or playing basketball and tennis with his brothers.
