The use of the city’s new online portal helped nearly a hundred people stop suffering this summer.
El Centro city officials said a citizen used the new online action center portal recently and brought immediate help to nearly 100 people living at a downtown hotel. The citizen reported faulty smoke detector devices, lack of running water and no air conditioning. The city responded with an inspector within 48 hours.
City officials said hotel management is working to fix those issues.
El Centro resident Marlene Thomas said it’s easy and important to use the portal to report issues such as this one for the sake of families and their children.
“They were saying that, we don’t have in some rooms running water, we don’t have air-conditioning. Actions were taken today. They notified the manager here on site to not rent out any rooms on the third floor, to cease that immediately and to make adequate repairs,” Thomas said.
