Aggravated assault at Motel 6 leads police on pursuit, suspect arrested

YUMA, Ariz. - A man is in police custody after officers say an aggravated assault at a local Motel 6 led to a traffic stop, then his arrest.

News 11 was on-scene around 9:00 p.m. Saturday night when multiple police units sped southbound on Fourth Avenue turning left on 26th Street. The suspect was wearing what appeared to be a red shirt and jumped over a residential fence and ran from authorities. The pursuit ended on Fourth Avenue across the street from a McDonalds. The man was cornered and arrested. Police immediately cleared the scene following the arrest.
