Hospice of Yuma recieves $1.3 million estate gift

Hospice of Yuma receives 1.3 million...

Yuma,Arizona - The Hospice of Yuma has served the community for 35 years, but in all that time they've never expected a donation like this.

A $1.3 million estate gift was given to the non-profit from the Don and Luda Soldwedel Charitable Trust. The Soldwedel Family has been a big contributor to Yuma's growth for decades. Don Soldwedel was once the co-owner of the Yuma Sun from the 1950's to 1980's and was also the owner of Del Outdoor and Sign Pro in Yuma. In their lifetime the family believed in philanthropy and supporting local non-profits in the community. Hospice of Yuma Executive Director John Williams says the experience is "very humbling" and is looking forward to helping the community in a bigger way.

"For us to think that people work so hard and they mention us in their will or trust, or the fact that they thought highly of us and about the mission. We're very proud about that, our donors are the best people in the world and we rely on them to continue to fulfill our mission and without that, we wouldn't be able to do that, we wouldn't exist," Williams said.
