CALEXICO, Calif. - New Calexico Council Members Lewis Pacheco, Bill Hodge and Jesus Eduardo Escobar said they’re aware of many challenges facing Calexico and are eager to find solutions to them.
The new council members said they are ready to work together. Outgoing council member John Moreno said it was a bitter sweet moment for him not being able to leave Calexico better than how he found it when he began his service eight years ago.
“I wish this new council will work together for the betterment of the community and put the differences aside and get things done,” Moreno said.
“We have a lot of issues that we need to mend. Our budget is a big concern. We got to get that back on line. We got to get people and this city working together, mending our broken fences,” Pacheco said.
Armando Real became Calexico’s new mayor and Maritza Hurtado Mayor Pro-Tem during the same ceremony.
