SAN LUIS, Ariz. - The City of San Luis and San Luis High School (SLHS) got a new lighting system for their athletic fields.
Educators, city leaders and members of the community gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new lights, Tuesday night.
The lights were installed around the track and soccer field.
The money for the new lighting system came from a bond that was passed in 2015.
Officials say the lights will allow the city to offer more programs to the community by expanding the park's schedule.
“Well obviously this extends time for student athletes being active with their sports and then it also benefits the city with their programs,” said Tammy Ray, who is the principal at SLHS.
The project and shared usage of the athletic field are part of an agreement between the city and the district.
