SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Playing well at the right time. That may be the theme for the Brawley Wildcats baseball team, who have played extremely well to close out the regular season and in every playoff round up to the CIF San Diego Section division 3 title game.
The Wildcats in that span of time, have won 11 consecutive games that have led them to their 1st title game appearance in school history and would have the task of taking on top seeded Serra.
Like the Cats have done in their recent stretch of wins, they found a way to put key runs on the board at key moments.
Dylan Reina drove a deep sacrifice fly to score lead-off hitter Jonathan Gonzalez from 3rd, giving Brawley the 1-0 lead in the 1st.
Even though the Cats 2nd and last run wasn't scored until the 7th and final inning, it would prove to be more than enough.
Starting pitcher Roberto Brodell was stellar on the mound for Brawley, as he never allowed a single run the entire afternoon; also getting plenty of help from his defense.
The Wildcats win their 1st CIF San Diego Section title in school history with their 2-0 victory.
