Brawley volleyball wins opening playoff match!

IVL champs sweep Serra; advance to quarterfinals.

BRAWLEY, Calif. - After sweeping this year's Imperial Valley League competition with a broom, the Brawley Wildcats volleyball team earned a 5th overall seed in this year's CIF-San Diego Section Division 3 tournament.

The Cats were hoping that their lop-sided wins in most of the unbeaten IVL stretch of 12 victories, would translate to a deep playoff run.

After Wednesday's 1st round of competition, they were off to a good start.

The Cats would host the 12th seeded Serra Conquistadors, who would play them tight in the 1st two sets, before Brawley asserted complete control in the 3rd; to come away with the three set sweep!

Logan Nemlowill led the way for Brawley, taking home 13 kills on the night. Meanwhile, Jenna Rodriguez played stellar defense; coming away with 22 digs and Jalyn Ayala tallied up 43 assists in the match.

Brawley's 25-22, 26-24, and 25-17 victory sets up a 2nd round clash at 4th seeded Helix on Saturday.
