YUMA, Ariz. - Two nights after pulling off a late rally to defeat the Kofa Lady Kings, the Gila Ridge Hawks would try to hold the same opposition from doing the same thing to them in their rematch at Kofa.
After taking an early 1-0 lead, the Hawks would struggle in the bottom of the 4th. Gila Ridge starting pitcher, Sherlyn Molina would hit a wall against the Kofa batters; allowing two runners on base with no outs.
The Lady King's Dareana Cordova would then lay down a sacrifice bunt attempt, but the play would turn disastrous when Molina's throw to 1st base was off target. That would allow Chloe Garcia to tie the game at 1-1.
Hawks head coach Jamie McGalliard would then pull Molina for McKenna Casas; who would then get her team out of the inning, despite allowing another Kofa run to score on the same play as a controversial call out at 3rd base.
Ridge would immediately responded in the top of the 5th, as Yassiel Lazo would deliver a deep drive to left that would score 2 Hawks base runners; giving the lead back to Gila Ridge.
Both teams would later exchange runs in the 7th inning, but the Hawks would prevail in the rematch; coming away with the 5-3 victory.
