YUMA, Ariz. - Yuma area racing legend Gordie Rivera has died at the age of 73.
Rivera died of a heart attack on the night of Valentine's Day.
The Yuma native competed in Pro Stock racing for five decades, starting in the early 1970's.
River competed in more than 250 NHRA national racing events and has finished in the top 10 standings on 4 different occasions.
The best finish of Rivera's career was 5th overall back in 1985.
Rivera is survived by his wife Debbie and his two sons Gordie Jr. and Doug.
