YUMA, Ariz. - You can name numerous great qualities about the 2016 Arizona Western College football team in their latest run at a national title.
Perhaps the greatest was star linebacker Patrick Macon.
The former Matadors standout became the first student athlete in program history to win the NJCAA's highest individual honor; taking the 2017 David Rowlands Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
This isn't the only award Macon has won. As he continues his collegiate career at Oklahoma State, he is also named the Spalding NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year, the WSFL Co-Defensive Player of the Year and has earned a spot on the NJCAA 1st Team All-American list.
Macon finished his AWC career with more than 200 tackles. As a sophomore alone, he led the country with 27.5 tackles for loss and forced a mind blowing nine fumbles.
