YUMA, Ariz. - Six months after falling short in the final minutes of the NJCAA national title game at the El Toro Bowl, the AWC Matadors football program shows signs of reloading.
Case in point, the Mats will now have the services of dual threat quarterback Bryce Perkins; who left Arizona State University about a month ago, looking for a better opportunity to play.
He may get that with the Mats, as previous starting quarterback Emmanuel Gant has moved on to greener pastures; after leading the Cardinal and Gold to the national title game.
This leaves an opening for the starting quarterback job for the Mats this fall, in an offense that will have highly touted play-makers on both sides of the ball that could open the door for another national title chase, with Perkins at the helm.
Perkins will plan on transferring to a Division 1 school at the end of the calendar year, with two years of collegiate eligibility after that.
