Tough loss for Yuma Catholic volleyball

Rock fall in four sets to Casteel

YUMA, Ariz. - Yuma Catholic Shamrocks volleyball knows the margin for error is very slim for them in hopes of landing a "play-in" spot in the upcoming 3A playoffs with only five games remaining in the regular season.

A big home victory against Casteel would go a long way, since the Colts themselves would be in the playoffs; if the season ended today.

In the second set, it looked like the Shamrocks would pull off the upset.

YC would rally midway through the set, where they would push it to a few extra points to even the match at a set apeice; thanks in part to stellar play by Ali Schmunk and Joy Morris.

Schmunk would lead the Rocks with 12 kills and 22 assists on the night, while Morris finished with 10 kills and 4 blocks.

YC's momentum was short-lived, as they would drop the final two sets.

They would lose by the set scores of 18-25, 27-25, 17-25 and 18-25.
