Shamrocks survive close contest with Brawley

BRAWLEY, Calif. - Both the Yuma Catholic Shamrocks and the Brawley Wildcats boys basketball programs have each put together strong seasons so far.

The Wildcats to this point, have beaten Yuma area squads Cibola and Gila Ridge as part of their 12-5 overall record.

Meanwhile, the Shamrocks are on a bit of a hot streak, winning 10 out their last 11 games and posting an unbeaten road record.

The game would be tight throughout, as the Cats took a 4 point lead after one quarter. Then the Shamrocks took the momentum in the 2nd quarter; going on a 16 to 8 run.

But in the 2nd half, YC would would pull away late to secure the 57-52 win.

Rocks Senior center Daniel Callendar racked up 15 points, 20 rebounds and 5 blocks in the victory.
