Victim and driver of Saturday fatality collision identified

YUMA, Ariz. - The Yuma Police Department revealed the identities of both the victim and driver involved in the fatality collision that happened Saturday evening. 

The deceased victim was identified as 14-year-old Jazmin Reyes and the driver is 21-year-old George Espinoza-Teran.

On Saturday, Oct. 7th, Yuma Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at around 7:05 p.m. in the 2200 block of South Avenue C. 

The investigation revealed a black Dodge Avenger driven by Espinoza-Teran who was traveling northbound on Avenue C. Reyes, who was with two other friends, was crossing Avenue C when the 14-year-old was struck by the Dodge Avenger. 

Reyes was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but was later pronounced dead. 

NOTE: YPD sent out an update regarding the fatality collision and noted that Jazmin Reyes' correct age was 14 years old. YPD released another update correcting the name as Jazmin Reyes.
