YPD officer gets hit on the head with a bottle; suspect still at large

YUMA, Ariz. - A man allegedly hit a police officer in the head with a glass bottle during a traffic stop.

Yuma Police Department (YPD) officers say, Christian Michael Silva, 26, jumped out of the back seat of a car and hit the officer in the head with the glass bottle.

The incident happened just over a week ago, when the officer pulled the car over. When the officer walked up to the car, Silva jumped out the back seat and assaulted the officer, according to a press release posted on YPD's Facebook page. Silva fled the scene on foot and has since been at large.

Despite the other passengers denying knowing Silva, officers were able to identify the suspect after investigating. Officers say they also found a sawed-off shotgun along with other firearms inside the car.

Now police are asking for the public's help finding Silva.
