Yuma Fire responds to business, trailer fire

YUMA, Ariz. - Yuma Firefighters responded to two fires, one at a business, and one at a trailer park on Sunday morning. 

YFD responded to a business after receiving a call that smoke was coming from a business at 6179 E. Gila Ridge Road.

There were also reports that inside the business, Tanimura & Antle, there was an active ammonia leak from the business. 

Firefighters found smoke coming from the mechanical room, where there was a small fire located inside.

They also found a small ammonia leak in the room.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and the leak in the room, and evacuated the building as precaution. 

Despite there being no threat to the surrounding area, YFD's Special Operations Vehicle was dispatched to the business due to the hazardous material involved. They were on scene for several hours.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire and ammonia leak are under investigation. 

Less than 15 minutes later, there were reports of a trailer fire at Araby Acres at 6649 E. 32nd Street. YFD arrived to heavy smoke and flames outside of the trailer. 

Fire personnel were able to extinguish the fire before it could destroy the the trailer and prevent it from being spread to nearby structures.

Two adults and two children were occupants at the time of the fire. The fire only damages storage materials outside and portions of the exterior. 

No injuries were reported in this case and the American Red Cross was called to the scene to help the occupants who were displaced.

The cause of this fire was deemed to be accidental.
