Two men identified in deadly crash in South Carolina


AIKEN COUNTY, South Carolina - A 24-year-old man from Yuma has been killed Wednesday afternoon after being involved in a car crash in Aiken County, South Carolina.

Richard E. Barragan of Yuma and Rogelio Villanueva, 26, of Mesa, Arizona were both killed in a two-vehicle collision in Aiken County, according to the Aiken Standard.

Barragan was the driver of a Ford SUV, along with Villanueva and two other passengers. 

Barragan failed to stop at an intersection, pulling into the path of another SUV. 

According to the county's Coroner, Tim Carlton, neither of the men were wearing seatbelts. 

Barragan was pronounced dead at Augusta University Medical Center and Villanueva was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Aiken Standard. 

A family friend has set up a fund page for funeral expenses.

Barragan and his family recently moved to the East Coast a few weeks ago, according to the YouCaring page.

Barragan leaves behind a wife and two young children.  

The other passengers in the SUV were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Toxicology results are pending on Barragan.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is investigating the incident along with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
