A prestigious military award was handed out at the Yuma Proving Ground today.

The Bronze Star medal for bravery was given to YPG trax civilian test officer Jesse Schmidtmann.

Schmidtmann was a former navy electronic warfare operator and navigator, who was deployed to work army security convoys in Iraq.

As an electronic warfare expert, he trained army personnel to learn about improvised explosive devices.

Schmidtmann won the army Bronze Star in May 2007, for his IED training, but just recently received the medal and certificate through the mail.
