Four Phoenix boys are behind bars. They are young, only between 9 and 14 years old, but allegedly committed a heinous crime. Police say the four boys raped an 8-year-old girl last week.
The boys allegedly lured the girl into an empty storage shed July 16th, offering her gum. There they restrained the young girl and sexually assaulted her.
In a devastating twist, the girl's parents disowned her. Police say the parents blamed her for the attack and said she brought shame to the family.
The girl is in custody of Child Protective Services.
Investigators say the girl and the four suspects are all Liberian refugees. The girl and three of the suspects all live in the same apartment complex.
The 14-year-old boy is being charged as an adult with two counts of sexual assault and kidnapping. The other boys are being charged as juveniles.
A spokesman for Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer said the state will go to a federal appeals court Thursday to appeal a federal judge's ruling blocking the heart of the state's new immigration law.
