Now that lawmakers are closer to passing the health care reform plan backed by President Obama, critics are raising their voices. In a telephone interview with News 11, Arizona Senator Jon Kyl is worried that if the bill gets through it could bankrupt smaller, private insurance companies due to unfair competition from the federal government. Kyl adds the comprehensive reform plan is simply too expensive and will burden many American taxpayers.
News 11 also spoke with Arizona Senator John McCain over the phone. "There's no way you're going to cut a half trillion dollars out of medicare," Senator McCain said firmly. "You would be depriving people of medicare."
