It's a new twist to the Naughty vs. Nice list. Instead of names, it's a list of items you can and cannot recycle this holiday season.

Santa and Allied Waste of Yuma and Imperial Valley have teamed up to make a list of "naughty and nice" recycable items. Items you cannot recycle are on the naughty list. They include styrofoam peanuts, anything with glitter, and ribbons and bows. Allied waste workers encourage you to reuse these items.

Chris Coyle, Allied Waste General Manager says, "It needs to have 100 percent fiber content and if it has anything else besides that, it can contaminate the paper during the recycle process and we're not able to make good recylable items out of it." As for items on the nice list, paper products like cardboard, paper envelopes, and sale ads can all be recycled. Coyle says, "Recycling is important because it reduces our dependence on land fills. Our land is a precious commodity and we want to use it wisely so the goal is to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible." It takes a lot of time to sort through everything, but you can do your part to help. One of the locations you can drop off your "nice" recyclable items 13th Street and 2nd Avenue and the other is on 16th Street 47th Avenue.

It's a way to help out the enviornment, clean up your place after the holidays, and get a head start on the Naughty vs. Nice list for next year. For more information and to get the complete list of Naughty vs. Nice recycable items, you can call Allied Waste customer service at 760-355-0004.
