Rodney Glassman, 32, has officially entered the race for the U.S. Senate seat representing Arizona.

"We need a U.S. Senator that's focused on Arizona's future, and that's why I'm running," Glassman said.

The former vice-mayor of Tucson is a democrat. He joins the ranks with republican opponents John McCain and J.D. Hayworth. But despite their extensive track records in Washington and his young age, Glassman says he stands a good chance at winning the election.

"To send someone back who has been in Washington D.C. For 28 years or to send someone back who's already been there for 12 years, doesn't make much sense. It's the definition of insanity. It's doing the same thing over and over again expecting a difference. I'm the candidate that plans on raising a family in Arizona. That makes me unique, and that makes me the number one choice this fall," Glassman said.

As Arizona continues to be criticized for it's new immigration law, Glassman says the federal government has failed to devise a plan for immigration reform. He points his finger at John McCain for not getting the message through to Congress.

"S.B. 1070 just highlights the fact that for 28 years, John McCain hasn't been interested in federal immigration reform, and we all know as Arizonans that is where it needs to happen," Glassman said.

If elected, Rodney says his primary focus will be on job creation and preserving small businesses.

"Whether it's the water reclaimation facility in Avondale or the job core programs in Gila County or infrastructure or programs in Yuma, the reality is we need to have an advocate. Someone who wants to bring our tax dollars home," Glassman said.

Glassman holds a degree in law and served as a leader in the Tucson City Council. Glassman also serves as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Airforce JAG Reserve Corp. He says he will make sure our troops and U.S. veterans will get the benefits they're entitled to after their service.
