Making a Difference

All October various fundraisers were held to support Breast Cancer Awareness and now the funds can be used to help those in need.

Representatives from the Yuma Palms Regional Center presented the Regional Center for Border Health with a check Tuesday.

They were able to raise more thank $2,000 and say the money comes from the Desert Runners for the Paint the Palms Pink 5k Run 1 mile Walk. Also from the Palms gift card sales and other fundraisers. Workers from the Palms also counted and donated all the coins that were tossed into the pink fountain.

They say this money will make a difference for those who can't always afford medical treatment. Sarah Lydick with the RCBH said this money helps the people who need it most. "This money will help with the woman who fall through the cracks, and believe me there are hundreds of them. So we are so pleased to do this," Lydick said. She also said the money will help cover medical bills the state and federal programs don't cover.
