A local man is keeping his mother's memory alive by holding a walk-a-thon this weekend.

Jose Yepez lost his mother to cancer 4 years ago. During her fight he experienced not only emotional turmoil of cancer but also the financial burden of traveling out of town for appointments and treatments.

Since his mother's passing, Yepez created the Josefina Cancer Foundation to help others with expenses including lodging and food.

This Saturday help raise money by taking part in the foundations Walk-a-thon/Fun Run/Show & Shine.

People will meet at 6 a.m. at the old Kmart building off of Ave B. So far about 200 people are pre-registered.
