Border patrol agents with the El Centro sector arrested more than 20 illegal immigrants who are also criminal sex offenders.

The arrests took place at the border near Calexico starting in October of 2011.

The 23 illegal immigrants had prior felony convictions for sex offenses.

Five of them were convicted and sentenced for illegal entry into the United States.

All of the offenders will be deported back to their countries after completing jail time.
