Yuma County residents spoke out on key issues facing the country and Yuma County during a Town Hall meeting Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was held by U.S Senator John McCain, Congressman Paul Gosar, and Congressman Jeff Flake.

There were several hot button issues discussed including the Health Care Reform Act, Immigration, the U.S deficit, and Yuma's high unemployment rate.

Senator McCain, Congressman Jeff Flake, who's running for U.S Senate, and Congressman Paul Gosar, who's running for U.S Congress, responded to a variety of issues including the national debt.

News 11 sat down one-on-one with Senator McCain immediately after the townhall meeting who gave a wrap up of the important issues on his mind. "We've got to cut spending. Medicare is going to be broke by the year 2024," said McCain.

For Yuma County, McCain says he has an idea on how to bring down the high unemployment rate. "One of the ways is expediting the flow of goods along the border and also helping our agricultural sector with an agricultural jobs program so we can have people come here and do the work of agriculture in Yuma which feeds the nation," said McCain.
