PHOENIX (AP) — A judge has ruled a Republican legislative nominee's name be removed from the general election ballot because he doesn't live in the southwestern Arizona district where he's running.

Judge Robert Oberbillig of Maricopa County Superior Court on Monday ruled Darin Mitchell ineligible following a hearing on a challenge filed by state Rep. Russ Jones of Yuma.

Jones lost in the Republican primary to Mitchell and state Rep. Steve Montenegro of Litchfield Park in the race for two House seats in Republican-leaning District 13.

The judge's order doesn't specify what happens now, but Secretary of State spokesman Matt Roberts says it appears that Republican Party officials will have to pick a new nominee to replace Mitchell on the general election ballot.

No Democrat is running in that race.
