One man is in jail after running from police during a traffic stop.
It happened Thursday around 1 p.m. near the Yuma Market on 24th Street and Kennedy Avenue.
The Yuma Police Department tells News 11 officers pulled over a vehicle for a routine traffic violation. As officers approached the vehicle, one of the passengers jumped out of the vehicle and ran away.
Officers found the man a short time later in a back yard and arrested him.
Police identified the man and learned his name, 27-year-old Edgard Garcia, and found out he had an outstanding warrant.
Garcia was booked into the Yuma County jail on criminal trespassing charges. YPD has not identified the nature of his previous warrant.
Police are still investigating the incident.
