Officer Cruz Vidal with the Yuma Police Department was the first witness to testify in the Preston Strong trial Wednesday.
She was subpoenaed to look up certain financial records of Preston Strong and his girlfriend at the time Adriana Osuna.
She noted that Strong got paid thousands of dollars from his job as a car salesman for Alexander Toyota in 2007 and he would deposit some of that money into Osuna's account.
She also looked at the phone calls made to Dr. Satinder Gill's office on November 1, 2007, the day he was murdered.
The defense pointed out that a 488-number had called a total of 11 times throughout that day and someone from the office called it back 3 times.
Vidal told the court the calls came from an unknown source.
A criminalist with the Arizona Department of Public Safety also testified.
Earlier this year Nicky Petrin said she tested the clothing found on Dr. Gill's body for any blood or cellular matter such as skin cells.
She found traces of blood on Dr. Gill's tan pants which she sent to a DNA expert. That expert is expected to testify later in the trial.
Strong's defense team expects to wrap up testimony from their witnesses next week.
