The Gila Ridge Lady Hawks have already exceeded what was accomplished last year; winning 8 games so far in their 2012 campaign. Coming off a three game winning streak, the Hawks were hoping redemption would come their way against the opponent that last beat them; the Lake Havasu Lady Knights.
After losing the first set in tight fashion, the Lady Hawks were on the verge of getting closed out in the second; trailing 24 to 16. But, a combination of key strikes and Lady Knight miscues allowed Gila Ridge to score 10 straight points to win the set in front of their fired up home crowd.
Unfortunately, the momentum was short-lived as Lake Havasu went on to take the next two games to escape Gila Ridge with a win by the score of 21-25... 24-26... 25-16 and 25-22. Allison Weller led the Lady Hawks with an outstanding performance including: 7 kills, 2 serving aces and 17 digs. Nikkie Kelland was strong at the net in the contest: taking down 5 solo blocks, 5 assisted blocks and 7 kills.
