State prosecutors asked for 36-year-old Chad Diener's bond to be lowered nearly in half, but Judge Gregory Stewart denied the request, and left it at $400,000.
Diener faces three felony counts including two counts of aggravated assalut using a deadly weapon.
Police say Diener barricaded himself for nearly six hours Monday night after attacking a 40-year-old woman and her son with a box cutter knife.
After obtaining a search warrant just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, police went into his apartment and arrested him.
Back in court facing multiple felonies, Diener had some concerns. "Well, I'd just like to say that I'm mentally ill."
"I understand that. And you've mentioned that," Stewart said. "I want you to understand, Mr. Diener, that I've appointed counsel for much of that reason."
Diener is scheduled to appear again in court on October 12.
