In California the average price of gas is reaching $5 a gallon, but once you cross the border into Arizona, the average price is around $3.70.
This might explain why more people throughout the desert southwest are crossing the border and pumping gas in Arizona.
When Helen Bloom saw the low gas prices at the Circle K in Yuma, she knew to take advantage of the opportnity. According to Bloom "We're headed to Oceanside and we stopped here (Yuma) because we knew that gas was going to be more expensive in California so we thought we would save every dime we can."
Until there's a solution to the high gas prices, those from Arizona will continue to enjoy steady gas prices while those in California may have to continue to commute for a good rate.
