Side by side in the room but not in this election sat Yuma County Sheriff candidates Leon Wilmot and Rick Sandoval. It was the last candidate forum held by the Yuma Sun.

The first question asked by the audience was a clarification on an allegation Sandoval made against his opponent who he says broke a law known as the Hatch Act. Wilmot responded to the issue saying he has not violated any laws and the case would be closed.

Once each candidate had their say on the matter it was down to business. Audience members filled the Booth Machinery in Yuma listening to the two candidates who talked about theirr take on the controversial immigration bill SB 1070. Both had similar statements saying it it the duty of law enforcement to follow and enforce all laws.

Also in attendence were the Yuma County Board of Supervisors District 2 race candidates Russell McCloud and Dan Dawson. Both were asked by audience members about the importance of the county and city relationship and the issue of property taxes.

All candidates gave their best responses in hopes to gain a vote. There was something all the candidates tonight agreed on and that was the importance of voting in order to get their voices heard.
