President Obama has won the battleground state of Ohio, therefore winning re-election.

NBC has declared President Obama winner of Oregon and Ohio. Those states put him over the necessary 270 electoral votes to become the 44th President of the United States for four more years.

The president's headquarters in Chicago erupted into thunderous applause and cheers after it was announced Obama had won Ohio.

No official word yet from Republican nominee Mitt Romney or the president.
