Blythe Police are searching for Jorge Cazares, 24, of Heber, in a fatal shooting that happened at 4:49 p.m. PST Saturday.
The Riverside County Coroner's Office has identified Terrence Hughes, 24, of Blythe, as the victim.
Detective Robert Dubie tells News 11 that the confrontation started when Cazares and Hughes were having a verbal fight over the phone while driving in separate cars.
Dubie says Cazares and Hughes stopped their cars outside the victim's apartment at the corner of N. Palm Dr. and W. Bernard St.
At that point, police say the suspect, who was a passenger in a car, got out, and fired at the victim.
"The suspect got out on the passenger side, ran to the front, and was shooting like from about, probably about 30 feet away, 30, 40 feet away. Several rounds were fired into the residence, the victim's residence, because he was standing out on his front yard," Dubie says.
He says Cazares left the scene, and the driver of the car reported the crime to the Blythe Police Department.
Hughes was taken to Palo Verde Hospital and died Saturday evening.
Blythe police say Cazares left town in an unknown car, and police consider him armed and dangerous.
