Hundreds of Nativity scenes sit on display at the First United Methodist church in Yuma. "We have over 300 Nativity scenes on display or approximately 312 this year," said Cheryl Beckner, an organizer of the event.

The event put on for the community displays uniqie scenes both large and small."You can just imagine the different ways that we can display the birth of Jesus and in so many different countries, so every country has its own way of displaying it," said Beckner.

Beckner says this is the seventh year for the event which they named 'Journey to Bethlehem' and the proceeds benefit local charities including the Yuma Community Food Bank, Crossroads Mission, and Amberly's Place. Many of the displays are loaned by residents in the community like Kathy Rodney for example, an active collector of Nativity scenes. "I have over 100 here and I have over 200 total. I do it because I love the expressions on all the figurines,"said Rodney.

For many residents coming by to see the display it is a way to get into the holiday spirit while also having a chance to give back to the less fortunate.
