(Yuma, Ariz.) The Southgate Mall in Yuma has been purchased by Kornwasser Shopping Center Properties, and has big plans for the area. The company plans to redevelop the entire interior of the mall, and already has received interest from retailers looking to establish themselves in Yuma. Senior Vice President of Kornwasser Gordon Keig says companies are eager to expand in the city.

“Whenever we talk to retailers about Yuma, they are happy. Retailers do well in Yuma, so it is only logical that they would want to continue to pursue opportunities here.”

While Yuma is a good place for retailers to expand, having them come to Yuma is also a big boost to the city’s economy. City Administrator Greg Wilkinson says revitalizing the Southgate Mall is a great step forward for the community.

“The city has been trying to do something in the big curve area with the mall for quite a few years, so this is a really good thing happening for the community.”

Kornwasser plans to close the interior of the mall for renovations no later than March.
