It was just last summer when a video went viral showing former Imperial Irrigation Director Anthony Sanchez spanking his stepson. It was a video captured and posted on YouTube by his neighbor in Heber.

Sanchez resigned from his position just days after the video was posted and the video later made national news.

Sanchez was arrested for charges of child abuse, and during his first appearance in court he was formally charged. The horrifying ordeal is hard to forget and hard to defend. Now that the trial is wrapping up defense attorney for Sanchez, Ryan Childers says he thinks Sanchez will not have to face any time behind bars.

New details in this case show a plea deal is now in the works for this trial in which Sanchez would plea guilty to a misdemeanor charge. The felony charge would also be dropped in the settlement. Childers tells News 11 they are waiting for the court to decide a possible punishment for the misdemeanor charge.
