An elderly man is dead after he was hit by a car in Yuma late last night.

Yuma police are looking for a possible witness to the accident who may be able to help them figure out what happened.

It happened late Monday night around 11:30. Authorities said an 80 year old man was crossing the 400 block of W 24th Street southbound.

The pedestrian was struck by a grey Toyota passenger car which was heading eastbound on 24th Street. There was a white or light in color 90’s Toyota Previa van travelling eastbound directly behind the silver Toyota passenger car.

The van may have been a witness to the collision. The pedestrian was transported to YRMC where he was later pronounced dead.

The Yuma Police Department is requesting the driver of the van, or any other witnesses to the collision to contact CAI Lawson at the Yuma Police Department.
