TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Lawyers for the man who carried out the Tucson shooting rampage that wounded former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords object to the release of investigative materials in the case.

U.S. District Judge Larry Burns gave all parties until Friday to reply to a motion to vacate a protective order.

Attorneys for Jared Lee Loughner say Burns needs to recognize "privacy interests of the witnesses and victims, including the defendant's family."

Loughner was sentenced in November to seven consecutive life sentences for the January 2011 shootings that killed six people and wounded 13 including Giffords.

The publisher of the Arizona Daily Star newspaper is seeking the dissolution of the order keeping the Pima County sheriff from releasing the investigative material.

Federal prosecutors say they don't oppose the request by Star Publishing Company.
