Angel Varela, who was arrested last week for his connection to a robbery on January 19, appeared in Yuma County Justice Court Thursday.

He is suspected of armed robbery using a 9 millimeter Ruger handgun.

Varela is facing five felony counts, including aggravated assault, theft under two thousand dollars, and assisting in a criminal street gang.

While no state prosecutors were present at the hearing, the judge ordered his bond remain at $500,000 dollars.

Varela is scheduled to appear back in court next week.
